At least, It’s the Spring season! It is my favorite time of year….birds singing, flowers blooming, and love growing :). I also like the spring color palette, which includes beautiful pastel colors.
To celebrate this season, I decided to experiment with color and make some bangles. For this project, I started with just plain wooden bangles. I bought all needed supplies at the local craft stores, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s, and at Home Depot.
List of items used:
It was my first time painting jewelry and it took me longer than I expected…maybe because I kept changing my mind about the design and kept adding different layers.
One thing I have learned about the spray painting is that: YOU NEED TO GO LIGHT!!! I mean, don’t overspray of you get drips on your jewelry. Also, let the first coat completely dry before applying the second coat, if desired.
In my future posts on jewelry painting, I will try to explain every step. This was just a trial and I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I’m happy with the results though.
I’m curious what you think? Do you have any tips for painting jewelry?

“Designers take a modern twist on the traditional for spring 2014 by pairing soft pastels with vivid brights to create a colorful equilibrium. Inspired by a mixture of blooming flowers, travels abroad and strong, confident women, designers use color to refresh, revive and defy conventional wisdom” (Pantone).

I wore this outfit for Christmas Eve dinner. I bought the dress for $60 at Kohl’s a year ago, but I never wore it. I added a black belt to accentuate my waistline.
OUTFIT
I also decided to add some color with a red tie..for after party ;P. The earrings are from Charming Charlie ($10). And who needs the shoes anyway??!! ..kidding… I had shoes – black pumps, but my feet were hurting by the end of the day, so I took them off for this photo shoot.
ACCESSORIES
The rose gold-plated ring I bought online (I can’t remember where… it was over a year ago) and the bangle at Kohl’s for $15.
HAIR AND MAKEUP
I did a soft wave on my hair by blowdrying it with a curling brush and then putting few rollers for extra body. For the makeup, I opted out for a bold berry-cherry lip, soft cat eye, and dusty-rose cheeks.

I enjoy spring color trends, because I can play lighter lighter hues and different fun hues. I put together a rather inexpensive semi-professional look by purchasing items that cost less than $50 each:
- Ivory Lacy Jacket: Macy’s ($20; Originally $46; it was 40% off + plus 25% off coupon)
- Ivory Blouse: Marshall’s ($17)
- Green Pants: NY&CO ($40)
- Shoes: Target (Sorry, but I can’t remember how much they cost)
- Jewelry: JCPenny (pendant and Earrings, $40), Kohl’s (Bracelet, $15)

I really dig the BOW jewelry I made my way to Charming Charlie last week and I saw some cute bow cuff bracelets. Aren’t they adorable?
They had 5 colors to choose from. I couldn’t make up my mind to only one color, so I decided to buy 3 of them (black, pink, and white). For $10 a piece, I think it was a bargain.
I also saw this cute bow ring (also at Charmin Charlie) for $7 and decided to get it.
Isn’t it adorable???!!! So feminine and cute! I think it’s more “dressy” than the bow cuff. Of course, I wouldn’t wear it with other bow jewelry. I don’t want to be too matchy matchy.
Anyway, nothing makes a girl smile like a little bow. They are just so darn cute!

I created this look for great high-school and college kids. It combines the classic style with a modern twist.

One of the fall/winter 2012 trends is military chic. I decided to come up with my own take on this trend. The image of women has evolved over the years, which is also evident in fashion. Women are no longer seen as only innocent, weak, and submissive gender. They are now strong, independent, and powerful. Let’ us embrace the military chic style.
This is my own creation:
