Dramatic Makeover: From Meek to Chic

Hello My Beauty and Style Lovers,

I had a chance to make over one of my most favorite people, Mrs. O. She is a busy mom of two little ones. Due to her demanding schedule, I had to spread out her makeover over two weeks.

Mrs. O has great features that were hiding behind her thick, “shapeless,” hair and a unflattering hair color. Also, her amazing blue eyes were virtually unnoticeable under those eye-glasses and lack of makeup.

ImageImage

Don’t get me wrong, Mrs. O is a great woman, who is not afraid of change. I just wanted her beautiful inside shine on the outside. Therefore, I cut her her over 5 inches and  I lightened it quite a bit. I also gave her a lesson on makeup and taught to focus on her fabulous eyes, making them a focal point.

Let me start by addressing those fearful of change: FEAR NOT! Change can be a good thing! You would be surprise what a little makeup, new hair style, and new clothes can do for your look and for your self-esteem. You don’t believe me???!!! Keep on reading and see for yourself!

I like to transform my look often to show people how a change can be a positive thing.  Any time I feel a little sad or just hard on myself, I put on some makeup, do my hair, and buy a new dress. The result is looking and feeling Fabulous and Sexy.

Are you curious yet?! If you are, check it out for yourselves:

Looking nerdy

….to looking (and feeling) sophisticated and flirty. For me the change only took a trendy red-orange dress, fabulous makeup, and a sexy wavy wig :).

For goodness sake, DON’T BE AFRAID TO CHANGE YOUR LOOK! Go ahead and get that hair cut and buy that bold red lipstick!

If you are still a somewhat fearful or unsure about making any changes to your look, I say: “A little positive change can produce huge positive results.” You don’t believe me???!!! Try me…Yes, try me!!!! I dare you to prove me wrong!!!! 😉

Best Makeup Brushes … and cheap too :).

I own about 70 brushes from different companies (Sephora, Mac, Sigma, BareEscentuals, EcoTools, Real Techniques, and CostalScents). However, my all-time-favorite brushes have to be SIGMA!

Image

I just luv the fill of the brushes and their seamless application that allows you to create an airbrush look. They are definitively my go-to brushes.

Image

Some of my Sigma’s favorite brushes are kabuki (shown bellow). The price is amazing: $16 for a single brush. or you can get a brush palette. I do think it is a steal for the quality of those brushes. I bought some Sephora Professional Kabuki brushes for $38 each and I think Sigma brushes are as good … even better than those of Sephora or Mac.

Not So Plain Jane: Dramatic Eye Makeup

We live in a world, where looks are very important. How we dress and how we do our makeup and hair matters. We are judged at the first glance by the way we look. It is said, but true. We don’t live in a perfect world, but we can make the best off of it.

I strongly believe we are all beautiful in our own way. Some people just spend more time on their look and others spend less time. Since this world seems to focus on looks, I think it is important to appreciate our own beauty, embrace it, and make it shine.

Few nights ago, Jane texted me if I could do her makeup for a new job at some local bar. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity. I was excited, because Jane is very new to makeup. She usually wears very little or no makeup.

I wanted to bring out one of Jane’s best features: her magnetic eyes. So, I decided to do a classic smokey eye. It was a dramatic change for Jane, but she really liked it.

At the end, she was very satisfied with the look and got many tips. I want to think that her new bold makeover helped somewhat ;).

The fabulous style of Blake Lively!

HOMMEBOY[paris]

Blake, sits down to chat with Nina Garcia of Marie Claire, only to learn while most celebrities employ personal stylists to put together their looks for endless red carpet appearances, Lively does it all on her own. She selects the outfit, jewelry, and shoes that she wants to wear, then has her personal assistant contact the fashion houses to obtain all the items, she tells the mag. Lively also often does her own hair and makeup for red carpet events. In the magazine Lively states “ If I’m not with somebody who really excites or inspires me, then I’d rather be by myself.” I guess we know Ryan Reynolds is definitely exciting her. What do you guys think, do we love Blake?

Revamp Your Look with a Statement Necklace

One of the summer must-have accessories is a STATEMENT NECKLACE, like the one from Hautelook.com:

Image

A statement necklace can turn any drab look into a new fab style. You can wear it with a plain one-color shirt or dress. You can also wear in with a print blouse or dress.

RULE: When wearing a statement necklace use caution!!! Don’t to wear any other bold accessory with it.

No Makeup Saturday

At least once a week it is recommended not to wear any makeup. Let your skin and pores breath and enjoy your makeup-free day. Here I am wearing ZERO makeup. I only put on some self-tanner in the morning ( Banana Boat Sunless Summer Color Self Tanning Lotion, Deep Dark; only around $7). Make sure you exfoliate before you put on self-tanner or it won’t look right.

The Fashion Street in Milan: Via Monte Napoleone

Visiting the fashion district in Milan was like a child walking into a candy store, everything was so colorful. The only draw back was that the prices of the designer clothes were super expensive and, from what I was told, mainly rich tourists purchase things at the Via Monte Napoleone. Since I am not one of those rich tourists, I decided to just window shop, enjoy the fashion, and get inspired.

One of the first stores I visited was Miss Sixty and here I was greeted with two distinctively different fashion styles:

ImageImage

The first style was definitively not wearable but I found the combination of feathers and denim interesting.  The second dress was a pretty floral maxi, which is great for the summer. The warm colors speak today’s fashion trend.

My next stop was Versace:

I really liked the ivory/golden dress I saw in the window:

The Versace dress is very feminine with great flowy movement. I also had to take a close-up shot of the shoes and a bag, which I found very cool.

Image

I was all smiles, when I saw as store with one of my favorite designer’s clothes, YVES SAINT LAURENT (YSL):

Image

I took more than a few photos of YSL clothes, because I really like their styles and colors. I find YSL’s clothes elegant, feminine, and yet simple:

Next, I was impressed by a beautiful white dress:

I liked the details on this dress.

I also liked more plain look for the summer:

Then came the store of PRADA:

The PRADA dress also has yellow and red colors (and flowers), similarly to Miss Sixty maxi dress. However, the structure (and fabric) of the dress is completely different.

I had to take a close up of the PRADA shoes, because I found them fabulous:

I found a little time for PRADA men:

Another designer’s store I was excited to see was VALENTINO. His signature red clothes cannot be mistaken, but he also came out with some black colors. His clothes are sexy and feminine and a little edgy. Check it out:

My final designer’s clothes to show you are Armani and Ralph Laurent (I think…sorry but I don’t have all my notes with me):

The dress above is very intricate and fabulous. The feather details make the dress very interesting.

Image

In the dress above the designer made a masculine clothing into feminine fashion. I like the blend of masculine and feminine in this outfit.  The color white ties it all together nicely.

At last, I couldn’t finish this blog without finding a designer bridal gown. Here I found three gowns:
