Church ladies’ style

Today in church, instead of focusing on the sermon, I focused on two women style (or lack of it…sorry ladies). I wondered how wonderful they would look if they were made over. If someone told them about trendy jeans and that mom-jeans are out of style. If someone updated their hairdos. Finally, if someone showed them how to do makeup. I bet their husbands would appreciate if their wives look little more polished and sexy.

I wanted to take picture of those two women, but I didn’t want to embarrass them. They are both actually great ladies and I just wish their style matched their awesome personality. I will devise a plan on how I should approach them. Maybe this summer I would ask them if they wanted to be “subjects” for my portfolio.

Very cool collection. Futuristic meets retro (top picture) :).

Lashes & Lattes

The collaborations that develop for MBFWA are always intriguing, always exciting. And so when MeMeMe Cosmetics announced they would be partnering with up-and-coming label Flowers for a Vagabond, it sent shivers of anticipation down my spine.

Designer and founder Toby Maclean has been widely noted as ‘one to watch’, thanks to his exceptional skill in fabric selection, a talent for deliciously detailed garments and a penchant for dark, moody draping. The 2012 collection is expected to be more thrilling than ever, with the addition of intense detail and brilliant splashes of colour.

The collaboration with MeMeMe Cosmetics couldn’t be more fitting. Both parties are known for their innovation, strong…

Dramatic Hair Transformation

I thought there was time to change my hair color. I do change my hair color quite often, but I haven’t had a drastic change in color in a while. This process took few weeks, because I went from reddish-brown hair color to platinum blond (with subtle highlights), without experiencing much damage. We all expect results fast, but sometime it is better to do it in stages. Your hair will thank you :).

The Posh Krakow, Poland – fashion inspiration

During my last visit to Poland in 2011, I became very impressed by the style of the Polish women (and few men). Not only many of the Polish girls dress well, they also look like supermodels. I am glad that I was pretty thin then, so I would not feel like an odd ball :).

In the picture below You can see me and my fabulous Auntie Grazyna at the Square in Krakow. Isn’t she fabulous???!! She has a great style!Image

Image

On top, you can see a snapshot of my two aunts’ shoes. My Aunt Zofia, left side, needs to get some a pair of better looking shoes. My aunt Grazyna, right side, is wearing super-trendy wedges.

Through by weight loss & gain, I realized that style can be interpreted for different body types and sizes. Also, not all trends are good for everyone, so it is good to find your own unique style that flatters your body.

Going back to my point, I found many Polish women to be tall and fit. They also have fabulous style. The city that I found my biggest fashion inspiration was Krakow and I took pictures with my smart phone of random people, because I liked their style. You should have seen me snapping pictures. It was pretty funny and I had to explain to them that I took photographs for inspiration. Fortunately, Poles were more than eager to pose for the camera once I explained to them WHY TO HECK WAS I SHOOTING THEM :).

Below I posted 7 photos of the styles I liked the most (and was able to capture on my phone):

  • Super stylish couple (sorry, but my phone didn’t capture their front side on time). I really like this guy’s shirt. Very cool!

Image

  • No matter what age you are, you can be stylish. I really like this dress below; it has a great print and nice colors). Also, the fit is fabulous! I also like her hair style….very trendy, but appropriate for her age and face shape!

Image

  • I couldn’t help but notice this little cute semi-bohemian outfit. It is just adorable. I even even like her hair blow with the flower and her hair cut. Very cute!

Image

  • Below is another proof age shouldn’t be the reason why women should dress frumpy. Take a look at this fabulous ladies below (YES, I know the photo is blurry; they walked too fast :)). The black & white colors and polka dots pattern are right on trend.

Image

  • I am usually not a fan of matchy-matchy clothes, but there is something so darn charming about this outfit. It is just so sweet and romantic. It makes me nostalgic. I like all the pieces, but maybe putting them together wasn’t the best idea. It is like having everything emphasized and having no focal point. I would pair her dress with a neutral shoe and a neutral bag..Still, her outfit is SO DARN ADORABLE :)!

Image

  • Of course I needed a close up on her fabulous red shoes :). They would look great paid with black or navy colored dress or jeans..just saying :).

Image

  • The outfit below is what I call CAUSAL CHIC :). Ladies, casual chick is not some baggy jeans, baggy shirt and flip-flops. I like that the classic white shirt is combined with very trendy colored (red) jeans and a nice neutral flat shoes. Oh yeah, there was another lady in the picture :D. She is also dressed well, but sorry hun, I couldn’t get my eyes of your cute friend’s fab bright jeans and her sassy pony tail. WAY TO GO!!!!

Image

One thing to point out: many times when fashion was great, makeup was not there to match that fab style. If only they put some color on their lips and cheeks and put a little bit of mascara on their lashes.  I guess I would need to teach them how to apply makeup…and, guess what.. I would be freakin’ happy to do it :).

This wraps up my inspiration from Krakow. I am curious what do you think?  Post comments, pleazzzee :).

My style and body struggles

My entire life I had struggled with my weight. When I was 14 years old, my mother put me on a diet. I thought that I had to be super thin in order to look good. They didn’t make clothes larger than size 10 in Poland when I was growing up. Size 2 or 4 was the norm. I found myself outside of that norm, considering myself not beautiful. Then, I lost a lot of weight and gained an eating disorder. No matter how thin I got, I was never happy with my body. I got so skinny that it slowed down my development. I saw other girls my age blossom, while I was waiting for my “chest” to develop. I was ridiculed for a small chest size. At age 17, I moved US. Due to huge food portion sizes, I gained 50 pounds in 2 years. My self-esteem became virtually non-existent. I wore baggy clothes and long hair, often brushing it down my face. I wanted to hide behind all those ill-fitting clothes and messy hair. I hated my body. I experienced more reducible from family and…myself. Within a year, I lost the weight and gained another eating disorder. And the cycle continued… I went from size 10 to 8 then to 12 then to 6 then to 10 then to 4 and 2 and 0 and then to 6 and 8 and 10.

From Super Skinny (UP) to little chunky (down). No matter what size I was, I was never happy. Through that time I realized that the only way I can love myself is that I have to accept the way I look and concentrate on accentuating the best assets. I started to use fashion and makeup and style to my advantage. I also started to exercise and eat better, and I did it for the right reason: MY HEALTH! I wanted to look and feel sexy, no matter what size I was or wasn’t.

Few good things I received from my mom; one is a great sense of style (so I think :)) and an understanding of different fabrics. Since the age of 3, I “designed” clothes, which later turned into fashion designs. I also was able to do makeup for my aunts. When I turned 14 years old, I cut my very long hair and I later colored it. I had any imaginable hairstyle and color. I was a hair model for Toni & Guy for a while. I also modeled clothes. All this taught me one thing: style can either make person feel horrible or make her feel great. I started to feel GREAT!

SO, that is how my venture came about. I wanted to help women just like me, find their best STYLE, and help them feel and look beautiful. I didn’t want women to be defined by the unrealistic beauty trends they see in magazines. I wanted to show them how to look their best NOW, not 10 or 40 pounds lighter. I wanted to help women feel beautiful by taking care of themselves through wearing the right clothes, accessories, makeup, and haircut. I wanted them to spice up their lives though style and even cuisine. ALL WOMEN (and MEN) DESERVE TO FEEL BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER WHAT!

ME, as of April 30, 2012 🙂
